What is the Withlocals fee?

Q: How does the Withlocals commission work for hosts?

A: Withlocals operates on a "net price" plus commission model, which means that the hosts set the net price they would like to receive, and Withlocals applies a mark-up to ensure that the host receives their full payment of the agreed net price.

The Withlocals commission is not deducted from the agreed net price; instead, it is added on top of the net price. For example, for a Highlights and Hidden Gems tour with an agreed net price of €120, the total selling price is €176.50 for the guest. Withlocals takes a commission of 32% of €176.50 (€56.50), and the host receives the full agreed net price of €120.

This applies to all services provided by the host including Withlocals Originals Tours, Host Offers and Personalized offers. Hosts will ALWAYS receive the agree net price in full.

Q. How is this commission helping me as a host?

The commission helps Withlocals to add a lot of value for the hosts, including:

  • Paid marketing to drive relevant visitors to the website and convert them into customers for your experience.
  • Booking management and support to make your life easier
  • Risk management (with a late cancellation you will still get the host fee for the experience)
  • Training and onboarding of new hosts to expand our network and provide more booking opportunities for repeating customers. This benefits the entire host community.

Q. What about the additional 10% Service Fee?

A: You may wonder why the final price you paid is more than the actual price of the tour you booked. For every booking made, we charge an additional fee of 10% on top of the tour price. This fee helps us run our platform and offer the best possible services like support on your trip. It includes VAT.

This amount does not go to the host nor does it include gratuity. It is also not subtracted from the net amount the host receives for their service. You can see the service fee is charged at the checkout stage with a question mark icon there for an explanation.

Withlocals keeps the right to adjust the % of the fee for marketing purposes such as launching campaigns and other promotions.
